Anyway, logging on, I hope, for the first time. Preparing something to contribute soon. Meanwhile, what is the best type of handheld GPS unit for geocaching or hiking, etc?

I use a Garmin hand held unit. There are a few different models that can be bought in the $100.00 to 150.00 range.
Cabelas carries them and so does Ebay.

I am a Garmin guy, and will stick with them. It all come to what you are willing to spend. I want buy a nice color unit, but have not wanted to drop the money for one yet. The newer ones acquire the satellites much faster then the older ones. I have a garmin unit with an internal compass which I like for geocaching, although that feature costs extra. Regardless get into it, great cheap fun.
